I had the pleasure of attending Hacking with the Homies last week, and this time I brought a special guest – my husband! As a recent tech bootcamp graduate, it was the perfect opportunity for him to experience the vibrant tech community firsthand.
Community Vibes
The energy at Hacking with the Homies was electric. There’s something special about being back in person, connecting face-to-face with fellow tech enthusiasts. One of the highlights was meeting several inspiring founders who shared their journeys and insights.
A standout session came from @joetech, a former colleague, who delivered an engaging and informative presentation. It was great seeing familiar faces in new contexts and making fresh connections within the Detroit tech scene.
Beyond the Tech
Let’s talk about the food – because wow! The conference organizers made sure we were well-fed with some incredible local cuisine. Nothing beats good food and great conversation with people who share your passion for technology.
Supporting New Talent
As someone who’s been in tech for a while, it was particularly meaningful to experience the conference through my husband’s eyes as a newcomer to the industry. The warmth and inclusivity of the community really shined through, reminding me why I love being part of this space.
Looking forward to more Hacking with the Homies events – they keep getting better each year!
When was a time someone helped you feel welcome in tech? Or when did you help someone else find their place in our community? I’d love to hear about your experience in the comments below.
